The Tax Collector is reponsible for the complete and timely collection and processing of general land taxes within the Town of Hurley. In our town this job is handled by the duly elected Town Clerk, currently Judy Mayhon. The Town of Hurley Tax Collector is not responsible for school tax bills. General Taxes

General Tax bills for 2005 will be mailed by January 3rd, 2005. For those of you who have a mortgage escrow account and do not receive a tax bill, feel free to call our office to confirm that your bill was sent to your bank. Occasionally a bank fails to identify a partial sufficiently, making it impossible for a requested bill to be forwarded to them. In such cases we can provide a bill to the homeowner to be presented to the bank.

If you receive a bill for property you have sold, please forward the notice to the new owner or return it to the Tax Collectors's office immediately. The interest free period ends on January 31st! your information before the 25th of the month.

Interest Fees

Payment of taxes is dull in full by February 3, 2001. Any bill, or portion thereof, unpaid on this date will incur interest charges as follows:

February 4 through February 28 1%

March 1 through March 31 2%

April 1 through April 30 3%

May 1 through June 1 4%

In addition, a $2.00 fee shall be charged for each notice of unpaid taxes. After June 1 the tax roll for the Town of Hurley will be returned to the County Treasurer for collection and processing.
