Biodiversity Study of Old Hurley Completed
May 13, 2008
In Fall of 2007, the Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) asked Hudsonia to prepare a preliminary habitat assessment survey of a large part of Old Hurley. With more and more buildings being constructed or planned for Hurley, the CAC felt that it would be very useful to know just what plants and animals, particularly rare and/or endangered ones, were living here and which of their habitats should be preserved. This biodiversity report is intended in part to provide guidance for town land use planning. The CAC hopes to coordinate this report with similar projects in Rosendale and Marbletown. They should be a valuable addition to the research efforts of the new Ulster County Department of the Environment.
Hudsonia is an independent, nonprofit, non-advocacy environmental research and education institute based in Red Hook.

Water Service Feasibility Study Results Are Now Online
January 24, 2008
In 2007, C. T. Male Associates P.C. was hired by the Town of Hurley to perform a water service feasibility study for the Hamlet of West Hurley.  The completed study has now been posted on the website.  You can read the results and view the maps by clicking on Water District Study in the lefthand column. The West Hurley Water Study was funded by a DEC Water Quality Grant in the amount of $24,700. $10,700 went towards the study and the remaining $14,000 was being proposed for a rock fracture test and to drill a test well and 72 hour pump test.
