Summary:
In Fall of 2007, the Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) asked Hudsonia to prepare a preliminary habitat assessment survey of a large part of Old Hurley. With more and more buildings being constructed or planned for Hurley, the CAC felt that it would be very useful to know just what plants and animals, particularly rare and/or endangered ones, were living here and which of their habitats should be preserved. This biodiversity report is intended in part to provide guidance for town land use planning. The CAC hopes to coordinate this report with similar projects in Rosendale and Marbletown. They should be a valuable addition to the research efforts of the new Ulster County Department of the Environment.
Hudsonia is an independent, nonprofit, non-advocacy environmental research and education institute based in Red Hook.
