The Conservation Advisory
Council recently sponsored a Groundwater Protection Plan for the Old
Hurley area by the New York Rural Water Association (NYRWA). This study
has been very useful to Hurley by mapping the groundwater resources and
aquifers, identifying potential sources of contamination, and outlining
possible protection strategies. (See this plan under Boards and
Committees, C.A.C.)
Now the NYRWA and the C.A.C. have obtained a grant from the state to continue this work in West Hurley and Glenford and we need the help of residents in these areas. If you live north of Hurley Mountain Road and have some or all of the information requested in this survey about your well, please fill in as much as you can. We do need your address, but this will be held in confidence. This should help a great deal with current and future water problems in the town. Thank you.
